#73 Google Spidering Dydacomp Servers

Posted by uwe999 on 15 May 2004 - 10:24 AM in General Sitelink Discussion

Disgusting isn't a strong enough word for it. We were in the top 2 and dropped out of site as soon as we switched. I am currently talking to Freeportway, Able Commerce and E-business Coach. Also found Stone Edge, Web Design Solutions and Blue Water Tech Solutions. So depending on your needs there is something for everyone.

I found out from SiteLINK support that they had put filters in place to limit hits from Google. The filters were in place until two months ago but my traffic still hasn't improved and my web site doesn't come up on Google even if you search by our Company name. I am trying to find someone at Google to help me see why we aren't coming up now that the filters are removed. But no luck so far.

Yes, I think we all can say class action at this point.

you might want to submit your site to google.com, it usually takes a few weeks for them to reindex your site. Before you do that I recommend checking out the SEO tutorial at:
http://www.seo-guy.com

You seem to be missing one of the most important things: put your product names or keywords in the page title, all your pages titles right now just say "welcome to 4mdogbooks.com". This is one of the most important things to optimize for Google!

#72 SiteLink Down Again

Looks like SiteLINK is down again. I guess we won't be getting an orders today!
Anyone hear anything from Dydacomp?

welcome to the club, better get used to it! Or do you really believe anything they say at Dydacomp to improve their service?
Let's face it: somebody over there came up with the idea to use an extra room, plug a few servers in and call it a hosting company. That was a stupid idea even 5 years ago and still is, especially if your customers have ecommerce sites and lose a ton of money and a lot of customers every time their site is down.
They don't even care, they call it "an inconvenience" or "that's funny" - go figure ...

Hi,

I am completelly new to MOM. I am looking for eCommerce solution to be integrated with MOM. So far i found two options - SiteLink and AbleCommerce 5. Could anyone give me an opinion regarding which option might be better ? Or maybe there are other recommendations ?

thanks

Vicky

Hi Vicky, I'm a sitelink customer for a year and strongly recommend not to use sitelink, please see my post in the discussion.

#66 Sitelink down again

Posted by uwe999 on 14 May 2004 - 07:36 AM in General Sitelink Discussion

does anyone have a detailed accounting of sitelink being down over the past year or two??

we are a customer for less than a year, but it is absolutely ridiculous how much sitelink is down. Their level of hosting experience is less than a college kid hosting a website of the the spare bedroom. 3 weeks ago we had 17 hours of downtime, then 4 more times the following week for at least half an hour until we told them and they restarted their server.
Now last weekend they lost their internet connection completely, over 14 hours downtime total, once it was up again we had two more downtimes of half an hour each.
Last night they notified us that they'll have their line provider do maintenance to prevent those issues. Now sitelink is down for 10 hours again and they have no freaking clue when it will come up again.

Time to switch!

seems like only a few sitelink customers know about this forum so far.
Sitelink is down again today for over 10 hours already. Two weeks ago it was down for 17 hours and then 3 more times during the week for half an hour each. Sounds like a joke but it isn't ...
They even host their own website dydacomp.com which is down as well.

I have read the magazine too, it made me smile, or cry ...

#48 Entering Tons of Products

Posted by uwe999 on 28 April 2004 - 05:34 PM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

we had to add thousands of products to MOM and I setup an import script, I use Microsoft SQL Server to import an Excel file into SQL server and then run a script to add the products to the various tables.
But I personally wouldn't recommend it unless you carefully study all the tables and fields and do extensive tests ...
