#2823 MOM 7i splitting PB line items into Pl and BO lines

Posted by planetdj on 05 November 2010 - 05:19 PM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

I have the option to do this on order entry cleared, but it does it when I do the pick lists.
Any way to have it not do this at all?

With yard goods inventory is fuzzy (sometimes literally) so we often will have a few inches (or more) more or less than MOM thinks we do. It's getting really annoying having to delete the BO lines in addition to adjusting the amounts on the Pl lines. Having to figure out what's what on large orders also slows us down.

Thanks for any insight into this!

Hi Johnay,

Two things at work here.

It sounds like you have the option turned OFF for splitting In Stock and Back Ordered items into two separate line items on the order. But these will always be split once you run the order through stages.
You probably Shipped-Ahead the order (or have the setting turned on to ALWAYS ship ahead the order)

Once you do this, the pick ticket HAS to tell the Picker how many to pick now! The remaining units would then go on BackOrder.

Does that help explain things a little?

#2801 Updating and Importing new prices with DBUWin

Posted by planetdj on 26 July 2010 - 07:01 AM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

Of course I am working in a test environment, that goes without saying (one should hope). Thank you though for the concern, I completely understand your viewpoint.

I did completely re-index MOM, to no avail. However, I did not attempt to delete .CDX files. Can you give me more details on that procedure?

Also, as far as "exclusive" user goes, do you mean the only user logged on? or is there an "exclusive" (or power) user account?

Hello again Jack,

Glad you aren't experimenting on live data. What apparantly is common sense to you has been proven to be "not-so-common" with most others.

To better explain what I suggested before:
You would get every user out of MOM.
Then, navigate to your MOM directory from within Explorer (or My Computer) and delete all .cdx files from the directory.
Then have a MOM user with MOM Admin priviledges log into MOM, but keep everyone else out.
MOM will re-build the index files.
When done re-building, have that one MOM Admin re-index the system with everyone out of MOM. That will allow for an exclusive reindex.

Still not sure if that will do the trick, but it certainly would be my first step.

#2800 Sales Reports

MOM Version 7i.
I was building reports out of what is available in MOM already, Can you suggest a couple good reporting programs?

The report I was asking about was for orders (dropship and shipped from us) with a specific order type (which is simple in MOM), but I also need it to show the item #'s that were on each order.

Hi Egan,

Do you have Report Builder installed for 7i yet? If not, contact Dydacomp for a 1-user license and then report back here.

#2789 International Shipping

WHat steps should we take to ship internationally. We usually go through fedex.com to make the labels, but is there a way in M.O.M. to make an international label?

MOM does not support international shipments.
That said, there have been some users who have created their own custom shipping rate tables in the MOM system. But if you do that, and subscribe to MOM's shipping rate updates, make sure you backup your custom tables or you'll have to re-enter them each time.

We currently export our international shipping orders to UPS WorldShip by mapping the fields in MOM to UPS (not fun.)

#2786 Updating and Importing new prices with DBUWin

Posted by planetdj on 07 July 2010 - 07:00 AM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

Hi all,

Just started at a company utilizing MOM 5.4, and just so happen to start right during the time the company is changing all of their prices. I am familiar (somewhat) with DBUWin, and have successfully exported the Price.dbf file into Access, updated the prices, then exported to excel.

From there, I used DBUWin to "zap" the price table, then append from the excel sheet. The crazy thing is it worked, kind of.

The problem is, though all of the prices ARE populated when you check in the product descriptions, the prices aren't displaying AT ALL when you enter an order.

I am in a real time crunch, and am greatly appreciative of any support.

Thank you.

dbuwin is powerful and if you don't understand the system 100%, it is best to work with a backup of MOM to test your results out on.

Have you tried getting everyone out of MOM, deleting all .cdx (database indexes) in the MOMWIN folder, and then having one user log back into MOM (it will auto-recreate the new index files) and then do a full re-index of MOM in Exclusive User mode?

#2785 Export Sitelink customer information

Posted by planetdj on 07 July 2010 - 06:56 AM in Order Import/Export

How am I able to export Customer Information which includes their Sitelink Log-In information (User Name and Password)?

DBUWIN, R&R Report Writer, the new Report Builder, etc. All depends on what version of MOM you are on, as well as what platform (FoxPro or SQL?)

#2778 Backorder Exception Report

Posted by planetdj on 30 June 2010 - 05:53 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

After adjusting inventory for a stock item and modifying the allocation to a specific order, Sometimes I get an Backorder Exception Report saying that it can not allocate the items to an order because "unable to lock order. Skipping line item" What does this mean? I want to avoid this in the future so backordered items automatically update on orders.

I have only seen this when someone was either in the order or it was on someone's ComeBackLater.

#2775 Emailing Purchase Orders

Posted by planetdj on 25 June 2010 - 04:57 PM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

Mom v7i. After we create an order for products shipping to us from our vendor in the order product screen and create the purchase order, how do we email it to the vendor? I figured it would show up in the batch order processing with the rest of the purchase orders but it does not. There is also no option to email the purchase order that I can see. Any tips on emailing purchase orders for products that are shipping to us from our vendors??

Though the previous suggestion works, it does require you to enter the email address of the supplier each time. If you always email your POs to that one vendor, you can go in to Maintain Suppliers, enter their email address in the appropriate field, and select the field to tell MOM to ALWAYS email that supplier's POs instead of faxing them. The next time you "print" stocking POs, that vendor's PO will email (you'll see the screen pop in the upper-right telling you so) and if you choose to print the POs out as well, that PO will say something like "Already Sent" next to the Vendor Contact Info telling you that there is no need to fax it.

#2774 Price Change after Item "Ships"

Posted by planetdj on 25 June 2010 - 04:53 PM in Known Bugs, Work Arounds, and Fixes

Thank you! That worked. :D

If you use MOM for ANY accounting functions (including exporting to QB) then only use the Reset Order solution named above on orders that haven't posted off to QB. So, as a general rule, only reset what was done on TODAY's date. If the issue had been discovered the next day, the safest solution is to process a return on the item and then add the same item again to the order, changing the Item Status to Shipped (FORCE-SHIP it.) This will keep your financial info accurate.

#2716 Can't Move "Customer and Order Lookup Form"

Posted by planetdj on 24 March 2010 - 12:27 PM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this and all that happens is that the form stays in it's relative position.

Anyone got any other ideas?

And if you select "Cancel" to close the box, it reappears this same was when you lookup again?

#2712 Can't Move "Customer and Order Lookup Form"

Temporarily change your screen resolution in Windows to make it visible.

Hi everybody,

This is my first post on this forum but I'm so glad I found it! It looks like a great resource for a fairly frustrating piece of software!

Although our list of problems with MOM is long, I have one that I hoped somebody might know a quick answer to.

One of our users has somehow ended up with their "Customer and Order Lookup Form" in an unmoveable position. If you see the attatched image you can see how the top of the form in question has moved behind the main button bar of MOM and as such can't be dragged around the screen. I have tried the windows shortcut for moving a form/window (Alt+Space+M) but this doesn't seem to help at all.

Has anyone experienced this problem before or have any idea how we can regain control of this form?

Thanks in advance

Adam

#2683 Purchase Orders

And for what it is worth, upgrading to MOM 7i XL (for SQL) was the best investment I could have ever made in our business. All data is now readily accessible for data manipulation, web export or reporting.

And the built-in Report Builder in MOM is way better and easier than both Crystal Reports or Report Writer. I use the SQL Management Studio for many queries and data manipulation as well.
