In Topic: MOM XL

For those of us who are stuck on MOM 5.4 due to dydacomp's database changes, it looks like we have to convert to MOM XL if we want to use our data.
Would anyone like to share their thoughts, problems, or success stories in making this conversion? Here's some questions I would like to have answered:

1. Was there any hurdles in the upgrade process that delayed your easy conversion of the data?
2. Was the conversion worth the effort? Is MOM any faster or perform better?
3. How was the data access conversion? Was your conversion from MSAccess or whatever other software you are using easy or difficult? What were the problems and how easy was it to fix?

If you are considering this upgrade, add your questions here as well as giving any answers you get.

We run 6.2 XL and are moving to 7i. There were only a few conversion issues. It took a little while, and there was some inventory issues between the two. While the XL techs are very good, don't expect to be able to reconcile between the two. If your data is in good shape, and you have a basic understand the software (MOM, SQL), you'll be fine. The documentation was okay.

6.2 XL runs fast - almost as fast as 5.4. Does it perform better? That is debatable. (I'd say yes, but not a whole lot.) So much of the business logic is on the client, so that is not improved. We still get things jumping the track (the typical things: inventory. PO's.) XL support is pretty good at helping as they seem to be far more objective and systematic about trouble shooting. They'll even create queries to run on the backend to get a better picture. SQL means much less maintenance over FP.

We had to rwrite a dozen or so R&R reports. You would have to do that with 5.4 to 6.0 FP anyway as the field names changed to match SQL.
