In Topic: How to Backup MOM

12 April 2006 - 08:20 AM

In Windows Server 2003, I believe I've successfully backed up an open version of MOM using the included backup utility and volume shadow copy. I've tested this by backing up MOMWIN while making changes in MOM. I then restored the backup to an alternate location, and opened MOM from that location. Everything seems to work....

Can someone else with Server 2003 try this out and let me know if they think it works correctly?

ntbackup backup D:\Momwin /J "MOM Backup" /F "D:\backup.bkf" /SNAP:on

I am a little confused, because articles that I've found say that the included backup utility does support Volume Shadow Copy, but most of them also include a line that says something like "To take advantage of open-file backups, purchase a backup application that works with the Volume Shadow Copy service."

Further, I backup the MOMWIN folder nightly onto a seperate hard drive and burn a copy onto DVD-R each morning.

Do you run a script to make sure your users are logged out before attempting to copy the backup to an external drive? Do you reindex as part of a script, or do you do this manually?

Does anyone have experience with Volume Shadow Copy?

I just discovered that MOM does not support 3rd party billing with Worldship. It doesn't seem like it would be hard for them to do, since they do support it with UPS Link. However, according to support (and from my testing), it cannot be done with Worldship.

Has anyone else had this problem with Worldship? How do you deal with it?

Fellow MOM users,

I've posted before about using MOM to interface with Quickbooks for accounting purposes. I've recently bought a copy of Quickbooks 2006 to interface with the MOM accounting interface. Now everything seemed peachy untill I started reading the article done by I believe VideoFlicks on downloading the Quickbooks MOM setup file qbfc2installer.exe and installation.

So where is the catch? Well my MOM subscription just ran out and I didn't know that this exe was available for download. I'm asking someone to kindly take a few minutes out of their time and upload the file qbfc2installer.exe to momfaqs.com or e-mail to me at [email protected].

Tomorrow I will try to get in touch with MOM tech support if not and find out what they will do for me.

Regards,
Josh

Josh,
Did you ever figure this out? I am trying to interface MOM 5.4 with Quickbooks Pro 2006. The tutorial by videoflicks is no longer in the download section (I can't seem to find the download section). Can anyone help?

Thanks.
