I have a PB item in MOM, but want to ship the other line items first. I want to use the HS function, but am concerned about one thing. What if the PB inventory does not come before the set HS date? Will MOM only send the items that are available or what will happen?

the ship-ahead button will let the CM items go on to process and ship. the item amount that is in stock will ship and the remainder will split to BO. it won't ship the BO obviously until you receive the inventory and process any attenant accounting issues.
if you are trying not to split up the item with the partial, i'd just BO entire qty and ship remaining.
