#1973 [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Not a table.

Posted by MikeN on 28 January 2008 - 11:31 AM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

I know this is an old thread, but Microsoft uses this connection string:

"Provider=vfpoledb;Data Source="+HOME(2)+"Northwind\Northwind.dbc"

in an example from the "How to: Access Visual FoxPro Data in Visual Studio" article at http://msdn2.microso...895(VS.80).aspx ...

Has anyone successfully used this? Thanks...

#1926 MOM Running extremely slow

Posted by MikeN on 05 November 2007 - 10:23 AM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

Hi Guys,

Just started as IT support manager at this company. They are currently running MOM ver5.2 and unfortunately I have very llittle experience with this software.
The problem being expereinced is that the application runs extremely slow ( 40 -80 users). We are running mom on a 2003 server. Is there anything specific I should be looking at to speed the application up?

Thanks,

Leighton

Antivirus is biggie -- make sure your MOM folder is excluded from any real-time scanning. Also, make sure that all of the workstations only have TCPIP protocol installed. IPX/SPX, Appletalk, etc. will kill performance.

Good luck and let us know what fixed it... thanks

#1859 MOM 6 status...?

Posted by MikeN on 07 August 2007 - 10:00 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

After a rocky start, I'm curious what you MOM 6 users out there think of it now.

Is it buggy? Was it a big deal getting your R&R reports updated? Does Harvey CPS work ok now? Probably most important: do you wish you were still running 5.4, and why?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!!

#1785 MOM + Linux + Wine?

Posted by MikeN on 30 March 2007 - 07:21 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

(I may have asked this before - I don't remember - but it bears repeating from time to time.)

Has anyone managed to set up a MOM seat running on Linux using Wine or some other emulator/compatibility layer? Given the price of MOM, it would be nice for our budget to be able to recycle some older systems with some flavor of linux to be used as MOM terminals.

Anyone had any luck with this?

Try it out and let us know what you learn. FWIW, I've used VMware with a Foxpro app in the past with amazing success. I really was impressed. That, however, doesn't get you out of a Windows license and VMware is not free. I also doubt a "recycled" system would be fast enough to practically run MOM through an emulator. Other than that, you're set. ;)

On a side note, check this out: http://www.theregist...derails_foxpro/. Good 'ole Micro$oft.

#1784 PDF E BURST for Report Writer

Posted by MikeN on 30 March 2007 - 07:07 AM in Report Writing Module

I purchased PDF E BURST today!

In one word... SWEET!

PDF Eburst works with any pdf file. You simply output the word "eburst:" followed by the users email address EXAMPLE:

eburst:[email protected]

I output this term in report writer with my Invoice reprint report. I am able to run my report and print a PDF file that contains all invoices for a specified date range. Eburst groups the invoices by email and fires them off in Outlook!

Sweet! Now everyone gets an advance copy of their invoice!

Highly recommended! Best 300 I've spent yet!

Very cool, thanks for your testimonial!

#1783 Dydacomp Scandal Revealed

Posted by MikeN on 30 March 2007 - 06:56 AM in MOM FAQ News & Information

Hello again!

I just wanted to say that after several months with Dydacomp/ MOM and Sitelink that whoever those idiots were that bashed this company were DEAD WRONG!!! We've had the most AMAZING service and support from these guys, we have two e-commerce sites with them and we are VERY pleased with. In fact it makes me really mad that we almost DIDNT go with Dydacomp because of the"dydaconjob" site. We have spent hours and hours on the phone with Sitelink support getting them to answer every question imaginable and they have always been most helpful and knowledgable.

The ONLY drawback is the long waits on the phone to actually GET someone, but once you do they know what they are talking about. Try e-mail it seems to get a faster response.

Thanks,
Stephan Joseph

As was stated earlier, that person took OLD posts (out of context and out of order) and pieced them together in to hateful anti-Dydacomp propanda. Dydacomp and MOM both have had their fair of problems, but MOM is evolving in to a polished, comprehensive solution for a good price and with decent support.

Please, anyone considering going with MOM, don't go by what that jerk posted to make up your mind. Yes, someone from Dydacomp did make a post full of lies about a competitor to the MOM users' group, BUT it appears that it was a "lone gunman" and it also appears as though Dydacomp is doing something about it.
