#1005 Would you buy Mom again? I would not!

Posted by Lauban on 13 September 2005 - 12:48 PM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

I would not buy MOM again. It was sold to me with the understanding that

a. It would work well for business to business transactions
b. It would work well for drop ship orders.

We do at last have it working, but we have so many work arounds that it is
mind boggling. Some are minor annoyances; some are design flaws; some are
simply illogical programming.

If someone from MOM reads this, I would love to know if there is a forum where I can list improvements/changes that would make MOM work much better for b to b
companies. I don't want to rail. I have very specific changes in mind which would make MOM work much better for me. I would be happy to share them.

Tech support is a mixed bag. Often I am on hold until I give up. Sometimes I get a novice who cannot help me. Sometimes I am the problem, and the obvious is pointed out to me. Sometimes I get Jeff L who is always most helpful.

There is a lot I like with MOM, and a lot I don't like. Overall, I'm not sure the good has outweighed the problems, but I'll hang in for a while. Better the devil you know........

#1004 Invoice fomat modification

Posted by Lauban on 13 September 2005 - 12:29 PM in Invoicing and Printing Issues

Can you tell me where you can get this report writer, and is it only for programmers?

Thanks

Hi,

If you have R &R report writer you can download a Report Reprint Template in the MOM FAQ download section.

This report will allow you to customize your invoices.

CONS: You have to run the report after printing your MOM invoices in order to recreate the invoice(s).

PROS: If you ever lose an invoice you can reprint it.
-You can reprint an invoice without invoicing committed product on a customer's account.
-You can customize the invoice to show any calculation you want or any field you want FREE.

Cheers,

#807 Intro Earthy Delights

Posted by Lauban on 10 June 2005 - 06:03 AM in MOM FAQ Introductions

Hello:

My name is Ed Baker. I am President of Earthy Delights, Inc. We sell specialty foods to restaurants, clubs and hotels around the US. We do all of our shipping by FedEx, so we are a Mail Order distributor.

Much, sometimes as much as 2/3 of our commercial business is drop ship business. We offer over 2500 products, many of which are highly volatile commodities (such as wild mushrooms) which have costs/prices which may change daily.

In addition, for many of these products I may have 5 or 6 possible vendors. Keeping up with all the possible buying levels has been a challenge

We also sell via catalog and internet to individuals. It was for this I bought Mail Order Manager in 2001, and finally implemented it in 2004.

MOM works quite well for my retail mail order business, but presents many challenges for my commercial business.

I am hoping I can find some advise here on work arounds/fixes for such simple things as faxiing or e-mailing invoices to customers, inputting freight costs on drop ship items and more
