#578 Retail location

Posted by malexios on 28 January 2005 - 09:56 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

Does anyone use MOM to manage their storefront? If so, what workarounds are you using?

The POP module works ok unless you do custom orders. Or have to ship the product. Or have more than one register in a company.

I read a suggestion on Yahoo! about using a custom shipping method for retail sales that need to be picked/customized, but what do you do about reciepts?

#559 Stange Unknown Characters When Printing

Posted by malexios on 25 January 2005 - 06:52 AM in Invoicing and Printing Issues

We had the same thing. It turned out that we didn't have the barcode font (BC code 128) installed correctly. I had to remove and reinstall it via the control panel. It is available for download in the support section of Dydacomp's website. Alternately, I believe that you can turn barcodes off on those two forms

#534 Anyone experienced a 'DLDONE' error?

Posted by malexios on 18 January 2005 - 06:31 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

I found this in Yahoo! (which seems to be having problems ATM.)

Variable 'GLDONE' is not found.
Variable 'STARTVER' is not found.

We've gotten this message several times. Try this:

1. Find the Start.sav file in the MOMWIN folder and copy it to the desktop
2. Rename the Start.sav file (you've copied to the desktop) to Start.dbf
3. Copy the Start.dbf file back into the MOMWIN folder.

Or you can retrieve the Start.dbf file from the latest backup and overwrite
the Start.dbf file in the MOMWIN folder.

I have had the error, but it went away on a reboot, so I didn't try this.

#440 Potential Customer Needs User Reviews

Posted by malexios on 05 January 2005 - 07:02 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

I am still setting MOM up and have used it for less than four months, but:

2. Are you satisfied with Dynacomps support? How about their SiteLink support?

Datacom support... They are friendly, but useless.

Some questions I have had for them:
Q. Unable to run the client as a user other than Administrator.
Dydacomp's answer: Don't know. Your server must be set up wrong.
Actual answer: Modify permissions on c:\winnt\system32\foxuser.*

Q. When I access MOM in terminal services typed text doesn't appear
Dydacomp's answer: Don't know. Check Technet.
Actual answer: I'm SOL, guess I'll use TightVNC

Q. Can I use MOM over a VPN?
Dydacomp's answer: Yes
Actual anwer: No. You have to use terminal emulation

Can I customize a report? Change a value? How do I do XXXX?
Dydacomp's Answer: Call MOMHelpers for custom programming.

There is never any mention of opening a ticket or researching a problem. If you push the issue they will ask whoever else happens to be there.

Our needs are a bit different than many mail order companies, and if we stick with MOM we are going to end up giving MOMhelpers several times the cost of the software to get it working the way we need it to.

Has anyone used Mailware? http://www.core-tech.com/

#434 MOM and Terminal Services

Posted by malexios on 03 January 2005 - 11:56 AM in General Mail Order Manager Discussion

A remote terminal is going to connect to our network with Terminal Services (remote desktop connection in XP Pro) and It seems to work fine except for one problem: Text doesn't show up in MOM when you type. After you hit enter or tab to another field, it appears. It doesn't do this in any other applications.

Anyone run into this before?

As an unrelated side note, the file sysopts.exe reinitializes/reinstalls MOM, wiping out all databases and registration information without asking for confirmation. Guess how I found that out?

#403 Assigning bins in bulk

Posted by malexios on 20 December 2004 - 12:15 PM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

I tried exporting our inventory to a .txt file from MOM, then imported it into another warehouse. It lists the items as 'unassigned' but seems to work otherwise. Are there any repercussions from this that I can't see?

#402 Edit pick list format

Posted by malexios on 20 December 2004 - 07:05 AM in Invoicing and Printing Issues

The pick ticket has a 'VALUE' field that lists the total value of the order.

Yes, we are using 5.1.

We need a parts list to travel internally with the order, but the packing list will get mangled.

#391 Edit pick list format

Posted by malexios on 17 December 2004 - 06:48 AM in Invoicing and Printing Issues

We don't want our pickers to see our cost for merchandise, but it is listed on the pick list. Is there a way to edit the format of the list?

reports.dbf references picktick.frx, but that file does not seem to exist.

Ideas?

Mike

#367 Assigning bins in bulk

We have around 5000 items which were all imported. MOM Helpers wants $800 to do it...

#358 Assigning bins in bulk

Posted by malexios on 08 December 2004 - 12:58 PM in MOM & FOX Database Issues

We have no real need for bins, but apparently have to use them. We found this out after entering most of our products. There has to be a way to assign bins and warehouses to our products using dbuwin or Visual Foxpro, but I am not a DB guy and don't want to mess things up too badly. The dydacomp guy said that the DBs that needed to be modified are bin, stock and inventor, but would not tell me what to modify.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Mike
