From Dydacomp.com

Totowa, NJ - Dydacomp, the leading provider of business automation software for the catalog industry, has announced the completion of its new large-scale edition of Mail Order Manager (M.O.M.), the companys popular catalog management system. Designed to meet the growth needs of many of its current clients, the new XL edition of M.O.M. emphasizes quantity in terms of database and processing capacity.

M.O.M.s wide array of flexible features has been vital to our customers success for many years, says Dydacomp President and CEO, Dave Kopp. So our goal was to take those same features and simply upsize them for a much larger company. M.O.M. XL picks up where the regular version of M.O.M. leaves off. For instance, where the regular version handles the processing of several thousand orders per day, M.O.M. XL is designed for a company that might do up to 10 times that or more.

Kopp continues, Weve helped so many companies grow over the years. Problem is, once theyd get to a certain size, they would start to look to other mainframe software vendors because they felt that they outgrew our systems capacity. Unfortunately, few if any of the products written on mainframe platforms offered the ease-of-use and robust feature set of M.O.M. Im delighted to say that M.O.M. XL is going to enable them to stay with us as they continue to grow, and continue to use their current PC platform as well. In addition to our current clients, our new clients will find M.O.M. XL to be totally unique as the only large capacity catalog management system that can provide them with the option of starting with the smaller-capacity more cost-effective editions of M.O.M and moving to the XL edition as their business grows, without the need to undertake a costly data conversion or retraining of staff.

M.O.M. XL is written for the Windows platform just like the regular version, but utilizes an SQL database to accommodate larger volume files. It also permits someone familiar with SQL database to create custom reports to complement the hundreds already available in the built-in M.O.M. report writing tools.

Migration to the new version is simple for existing M.O.M. users, says Stephen Miller, Vice President of Support and Operations at Dydacomp. And, to assist them further, we offer on-site technical assistance as a part of the upgrade package. System training requires no additional time however, since feature-for-feature, M.O.M. XL looks and works exactly like the version of M.O.M. theyve already been using.

When is the XL version shipping and what will the price differential be?

Anyone out there seen the XL version and could comment on performance?

It's still in beta, and will be for a while. They'll probably release it towards beginning to mid summer. I can't comment on pricing or functionality, but I imagine it will make the cost of a single CPU license of SQL Server look like chump change. :P
