Can anyone offer any advice as to how to take an order from a future ship date and process it if we get ahead in packaging during the holiday rush season? Also does anyone know the exact rules on charging before you ship? If it is allowed is is possible to charge an order in mom before it's ship date? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Not quite sure what you mean by the first question.

As for pre-charging for a BO product, the current workaround is to create a ficticious item (we called ours PAYMENT) with an inventory of 9999, but with no value. Then add the item to the order with the BO, change the sell price to an amount equal to the BO item, press ship-ahead and charge for the item. Once you have captured the payment, instantly remove the PAYMENT item from the order (before quick-printing or running any Pick stages, etc.) The order will now say Ready To Refund $xxx, but you have captured the payment and the order will ship once able to be fulfilled.

Just my 2cents

According to Vi/MC Reg. you are not allowed to precharge for more then 2 weeks for stock items and 30 days for custom items

A good point to make! MOM gives you the ability to pre-charge for ALL BackOrdered products up front in the General Settings, but we currently don't use that setting because of the Visa/MC regulations. We may not get some stock items that fast. We only pre-charge for "special order items" before ordering in for the customer, and notify them for approval of such.
