Here is the situation: we have a stock item that is currently reading in stock, say, 20 units, which is correct. But it back orders when you put that line item on an order. Highlighting the item shows that it is back ordered but still says in stock - 20 units available.
None of our stock items are assigned to a bin, though when importing our orders this morning, this message came up:
This line item is partially filled and back ordered from a single bin.
You have
1.00 units available in Bin
You can break the quantity ordered based on the number of units available in the above bins.

When using maintain stock item, and looking at inventory, it does not show that we have a bin setup for this item at all. Which is correct, so then, where are the 20 units?
Anyone know how this can be corrected?
Thanks,
Kevin

Open your item in MOM and click on the Inventory tab. You will see in the lower right a box labeled BIN PREFERENCE. You will see that MOM has automatically assigned a bin to your item - you can't avoid this. you will also see that the number available in the bin does not agree with your stock on hand.
I'm not sure what causes this problem but usually doing a MOM reindex will solve the problem.
If not, you will need to use dbuwin.exe to open the STOCK, BIN, and INVENTOR tables to make sure they all show the same inventory quantity. The instructions for this should be easy to locate because it is a common problem for all of us.
