anyone ever use the Database Purge Module?

Was wondering if anyone has used this module before? We have it and I would like to use it to delete customers before 1994 who have not placed an order since then. I have been told that the former IT Manager at my company tried to do this with the Database Purge Module several years ago but that it really messed up customer records in MOM and that they had to revert to a backup to fix the issues. (no idea what the actual 'mess ups' were)
