Hi,
I am looking for anyone who is familiar with MOM's Multi-company module. I want to learn about its capabilities from people who are familiar using the module. How is it different that having two installations of MOM? Is any information shared between the companies? Is it configurable? Can you create separate order-related e-mails for one company versus another? Can inventory be shared between one common sku? Can you report revenue generated by each company for a common sku between companies?
Thanks,
MOM Multi-Company Module

We use the multi-company module, though not extensively. We keep a completely seperate inventory between companies, even kept in a physically different location. Seperate order-related e-mails can be made for each company. As for inventory, I'm not very knowledgable in that aspect. Though, from what I understand, as long as inventory is sharing from the same bin, you should be able to share it.
One drawback that I've noticed is that if you will be configuring different access levels for different users in different companies, this can all get blurred. It only relates to menu buttons actually. For example, if I have access to all of the menu buttons in Company A, (Maintain Stock Items, Back Ordered Items Report, Low Level Product Report, etc..) and am set to not have access to these features in Company B; there is a way around it if I wanted to cause problems. Logging into MOM, going directly into Company A - I simply have to click the "Change Company" button and enter Company B. Once in Company B I will have access to the same menu buttons I can access in Company A, even if my permission levels are set so that I can't access them. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks,
KJ

What KJ said about sharing inventory is not correct. When using the Multi-company module, each company is independent. When you create a new company, a new set of data tables is created (CMS, CUST, ITEMS, STOCK, BOX, etc.). Anything entered into one company has no bearing on any of the other companies, so there is no sharing of inventory, customer lists, order history, etc.
