My company uses Google and Overture paid listings as part of our marketing campaign. We recently came across a problem involving the search box features on the webstore. We needed to have a link from Google or Overtures "pay per clicks" section perform a search function in the webstore and display all products related to the search term.

Previously we were only able to use the url for a specific product or catagory (a link to item128 - a music book on Charles Mingus, or a link to the M catagory in music for Mingus). We wanted everything related to Charles Mingus (books, music, cd''s, dvd's, etc) to display from our paid link with the search engines. Several emails to Dydacomp and Sitelink resulted in us being told this was not a supported function in our webstore and a new page would have to be created in order for passing of a search term to the webstore from an outside link.

I requested our original ASP pages that resided on the server and found a simple solution that required no additional programming by the Dydacomp/Sitelink staff.

PART ONE:
This is our store link to the search products page. amend the link with your own stores url

http://www2.mailorde...searchprods.asp?

PART TWO
After the question mark, add (txtsearch=X) where X is the word you want to search for. If you have more than one word you want to search for, you need to separate in with a '%20' (txtsearch=X%20X')

Below are examples we use for one and two word phrases. Mingus and Charles Mingus:

example one:
http://www2.mailorde...xtsearch=mingus

example two:
http://www2.mailorde.....harles mingus

Each of these links will display all the related results in the webstore. We amended all of our pay per click links with Google and Overture and have already experienced a boost in sales as a result. I hope this information is helpful to anyone else out there using pay per click urls with the search engines.

First off, why is all the URL's your using not going to your domain?
Why on earth do you have mailordercentral.com as the URL and not LEMURMUSIC.COM??

Mike,

That is an issue I am interested in solving! I do want all of our URLs to go to our domain. Is it possible to do that with Dydacomp? How? I am eager to hear your reply!

Hello Tawnya,

That is definitely possible with SiteLINK. I'd love to talk to you more about SiteLINK and the different options that are available for your store.

Please feel free to call or email at your earliest convenience.
