Hello,

Finally, the moment I've been waiting for, MOM 6!! Well it seems that the gods have been listening to my requests for a new version of MOM. MOM v6 is expected to release in mid January to the general public.

I don't have any details yet but I'm on the list for a demo disc.

Keep your fingers crossed... this could be good!

Hello,

I spoke to several reps who swore they are forbidden to leak details until the release. I know that Dydacomp has actually banned employees from speaking about the new release until they go public. In otherwords, don't expect to find info on the dydacomp blog.

The unfortunate part for current users is the heavy price tag that comes with a full version release.

I'm guessing 10k for the core unit and 2 to 3k for support.

Additional workstations .. 500 to 700

just a guess based on MOM 4.3 figures.

I think there may be some misunderstanding about upgrade pricing that I'd like to address. Our upgrade pricing for the Main Enterprise System (core unit/US Edition) has remained consistent going back to version 4.3 at LESS THAN $1,000 --even less for those who take advantage of the early promotional pricing. The same is true of the optional module and per station pricing � under $500 per module in most cases and even less with the early promotion. Costs over and above that may be applicable if you are several versions behind and require multiple updates -- which bears out that it saves your business money in the long run to keep your software current.

Are there going to be many structural changes to the database files? Many of us here have multiple custom R&R or Crystal reports that we use daily, mostly due to the reporting shortcomings we all experience in MOM. I hope to avoid too much restructuring of reports that I have already written and been using for years.

I checked in with my developers as this question is outside the field of my technical expertise. I was informed that although there are database changes including the addition of an auto-increment field, moving your custom reports to V6 is a matter of a simple re-link. Tech Support will be available, as always, to assist you with this. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the enhanced reporting functions of M.O.M. 6.0 that I'm sure you saw in the feature list and PowerPoint that Chris posted.

Keeping what a secret? If you are a registered MOM 5.x user with a current support contract, you were probably already notified by email. And I'll bet (but cannot promise )anyone purchasing MOM 5.4 today would be upgraded to 6.0 at no charge next month.

I didn't get an email... but I was talking about announcement to new customers anyway. Nothing on their website. No biggie, just curious.

I can only suggest that if you rely on the MOM 5.4 system to run your business, and you have a valid support contract in place, contact your MOM Salesperson today for upgrade info and pricing. Everyone's upgrade costs are different, based upon modules, number of workstations, etc.
