5.4 Has any one updated to 5.4?

We updated and now we are experiencing problems trying to get credit card authorizations on 2 of our companies. Yes we use the Multi company module.
The error says "communication error" but it comes up instantly which seems like it is not trying to communicate.

Please help. We need to get orders out.
