Would like to hear from companies that are currently drop shipping items and using the two step credit card processing.
We are currently exploring moving from single pass, order batch processing; to 2 pass, order batch processing.
Working with stock is a no brainer but we are interested in hearing from vendors that drop ship product to customers.
Seems to me taking an authorization on an item that has a long lead time is not right.

Hi Sol2ruf,
At one point in my Ecommerce history I drop shipped video from a supplier in the U.S. ( I live in Canada).
The process worked like this:
1. Generate drop shipment in MOM
2. Recieve the shipment in MOM once we had confirmation the item shipped.
3. Charge the customer at this point.
The problem with this scenario is:
1. We didn't have 2 pass credit card billing at the time so we were left praying that the credit card would authorize.
2. If the product does not ship promptly your customer may challenge the charge with the credit card company or tie up your staff trying to figure out what the charge is.
Inevitably, we began charging customers upfront for the dropship merchandise and generating refunds for those items which our supplier was not able to ship.
This option was not as popular with our customers however my account was thrilled.
Best,
David
