Hi all,

We have recently replaced our server from a P2/128MB RAM/Windows NT 4 Server(in use since 1999 with very few problems) to a P4/256mb RAM/Windows XP Prof system and our performance is now worse.

At any given time, there are from 1 to 4 users/workstations accessing a shared folder containing our data using MOM version 3 installed locally.
Is there any configuration or settings required by MOM that we could have missing during the reinstallation? Is there any settings that are required by Windows XP?

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Hi,
I think the biggest issue is that you went from running a server os to a desktop os. Windows NT is made for filing sharing whereas Windows XP is not optimized for that task. If you changed the os to either Windows Server 2003 or Small Business Server 2003 Standard you would see a significant speed increase.
