My company sells precious metals. In order for the metals to be priced correctly they must be the cost of fabrication + the daily spot market price for the metal, and then have price breaks for different quantities. Is it possible to set a pricing structure like that up in MOM?

Hi Momnewbie,

You can definitely setup a pricing structure designed around Quantity ordered. You can even have different discounts based on date ranges. I'm not sure how many different stock items you have but the job of refreshing the price based on daily spot market values will require a script that MOM doesn't have built in.

We use MOM for selling DVD and VHS movies. I can setup MOM to sell MOVIE X at 10 dollars this week and 5 next but I have to set it up manually for every title. For our wholesale division, I setup the prices online based on release date. I then have my website (and the magical script we wrote inhouse) adjust the price accordingly and import that price into MOM if an item is ordered.

Cheers,

David

David,

Thanks for takin the time to answer my question. Of course, ive thought of a couple more.

MOM is odbc compatible, no? Im thought i saw that in the information, but dont see anything about it in the demo at all. We have over 10,000 stock items that currently live in both our inhouse pos program, as well as in our website db. Right now i have to sync the databses via text files and scripts. I would love if i could just have my web db (mysql) talk directly to one and other. Any one have any experience trying to do this?

So i guess the eaisest way around my spot market problem would just to be to use my website (which already generates the prices for the metals based on the daily spot market) to make a file that is imported once a day into MOM that contains that days prices for the metals?

Hi,

Sorry about the delay in responding to your question. The "MY ASSISTANT" feature didn't show me this post. Strange.

We currently use an ODBC connection to show our customers thier order status (from the ITEMS.DBF , CUST.DBF, CMS tables). You could also show stock info online from (STOCK.DBF) .

Cheers,
