From Dydacomp.com

Available as an option in Version 5.0 is the new Advanced Inventory Module (AIM). AIM is designed to enhance the already powerful stock management features of the basic M.O.M. system with three special utilities.

New Receiving Functions

Several new features in the receiving area are designed especially to track and manage receiving activity more efficiently.

A brand new screen makes it possible for your receiving operation to work from specific items instead of from purchase orders. When a shipment arrives, your receiving clerk can work directly from the packing slip to search the system for outstanding purchase orders for the specific supplier. Using UPC code on the delivered items, the clerk can quickly barcode scan the contents.

As product is received, it can also be assigned a warehouse location. Any warehouse locations entered at the time of purchasing can be changed if necessary. At any time, the clerk can "Complete Receiving" and a batch is created for the particular set of items that have been received.

The same familiar "Process Updates to Inventory" function has also been given a new option to enable a specific batch of received items to be processed individually if you need.

Finally, a brand new function called "Reconcile Payables for Payment" lets your A/P department review and match received product against the corresponding vendor invoice before actually creating an A/P entry for vendor payment. This final step adds one more "check point" to insure a higher level of accuracy for your inventory accounting.

Inventory Forecasting

This new feature set is incredibly robust, and provides everything you need to plan and implement sophisticated inventory requirement forecasting for your slow and busy periods throughout the year.

To start, a new forecasting screen enables you to set expected need levels for each item by the month or by the week. These need levels or forecasts can be based on historical demand within a certain period of time or on a case-by-case basis. As an example, say you're running a big promotion for a particular product this September. In the past, you've offered a similar product and you feel that you can base demand for the new offer on the inventory demands of the previous one. By using the historical inventory levels as a start, you can "forecast" inventory requirements for the new offer based on the sales of the old one. An entire catalog of products can be done in a similar fashion for as a long a period of time as you want. An entire year or more of forecast levels can be created for each product in your inventory.

In addition, you can also establish lead times for suppliers for each product at each purchasing level. And, at your option, this information can be updated automatically for you based on the number of days between purchase order creation and delivery. There's even a brand new report called the Supplier Turnaround Performance Report to help you spot problem fulfillment situations with your suppliers.

As you'd expect, all of the forecasting information plays right into the purchasing function of M.O.M.. With forecasts in place, the normal "Low Level" list is expanded to an "Items to Purchase" list for AIM users. Each item on the list is given a "Suggested Buy Quantity" based on Low Level + Units on Order - Units in Stock + Back Ordered Units + Forecast. And, because M.O.M. factors in the Supplier Lead Time, the Suggested Buy Quantity automatically anticipates the quantity sold between the time you actually purchase and the approximate date of delivery of the new inventory.

With AIM's Inventory Forecasting feature, you won't overbuy and you'll always be prepared for all inventory requirements. The result: You keep your money working harder for you by not investing it in stock before you actually need it.

Import and Export Stock Items

The other new feature included with AIM is a special routine to enable you to import and export stock items. Designed especially for those companies that need to synchronize inventory with an outside company or external inventory system, this utility enables either M.O.M. to maintain the master inventory (import) or for the external system to be the master (export).
